Union Furnace Dress Your Best Lunch was a huge success! Christmas Break is almost here & these students & staff are celebrating in style! The students were so proud of their attire & those who simply forgot, weren't left out, as the photo booth props were available for all, giving each the option to choose which suited them best -Santa's hat or beard, top hat, bow tie, or other Christmas fun! Thank you to all who made this special event possible.
Staff and students, dressed in their favorite holiday attire, spent the day rotating throughout the building to different holiday themed stations. Students had opportunities to create an edible Christmas tree, play snowman bingo, design holiday cards, and participate in many other fun activities. Happy Holidays from the staff and students of Union Furnace Elementary!
Many Union Furnace Elementary families joined us to celebrate a great group of students at our Student of the Month ceremony, which was held prior to our PTO meeting. Each month, teachers select students who consistently come to school with a positive attitude, relate well to their peers and teachers, follow school rules, and put forth a strong effort with their studies. Congratulations to these amazing students.
Kindergarten students participated in a Thanksgiving feast with their families earlier in the week. Prior to the feast, the students learned about Thanksgiving through a variety of activities. They discussed what life was like for Native Americans and Pilgrims and discussed the first Thanksgiving. Happy Thanksgiving from the staff and students of Union Furnace Elementary
Recently, students and staff enjoyed a day of nature, science, and hands on learning at Land Lab, which was held on the Presbyterian Farm. Rural Action provided many educational and fun activities, such as a discovery hike and an insect netting station. Many students expressed how much they enjoyed themselves and that they were looking forward to going back next year.
The annual fall carnival and auction was held recently at the school. Children played games while families participated in the auction part of the event. Lunch was also available to families to purchase. The money raised from the event goes back to the students in a variety of ways, including field trips and enrichment activities. Thanks to our PTO, volunteers, and the Union Furnace community for supporting out children.
Every day students at Union Furnace Elementary have opportunities to collaborate and learn together. Some activities are completed in pairs, while others are done in small groups or as a whole class. Groups are flexible, occur across various content areas, and are guided and supported by teachers and staff members. Union Furnace Elementary is a great place to learn!
