Chieftain students celebrated Dr. Seuss's birthday on March 2. Students were reading Dr. Seuss books, eating green eggs and ham and signing the Dr. Seuss reading oath. Mrs. Fetherolf's class is pictured doing some of these fun activities.

Columbus Children's Theatre performed 'The Snow Queen' for our student body on December 14. The story, by Hans Christian Anderson, was the basis for the movie Frozen. The theme of the program was on kindness. The show was a big success. Thank you to Chieftain PTO for sponsoring it.
Chieftain Elementary recognizes students who show cooperation, honesty, independence, effort, friendliness and safety on a daily basis. These student were honored at our last monthly PTO meeting and received a medal.
Mrs. Tipton's Kindergarten class had the opportunity to listen to a presentation about Native American Relics, Mr. Beckley, has collected throughout his life. The first arrowhead he found was when he was 7 years old. He has been collecting these Native American relics, learning the history about the Mound Builders and other tribes, and presenting to many students for many years. The children were excited to listen, learn, and ask wonderful questions.
Chieftain Elementary honored the selfless sacrifice of our veterans this week. Students were given a star and encouraged to write the name of a friend or family member who served in the Armed Forces and what branch they served with. Thank you veterans for your service and for protecting our freedom.
Mrs. Herrick's class united and took a visible stand against drugs during Red Ribbon Week. They committed to being drug free by wearing crazy socks, dressing in red, demonstrating crazy hair, and representing their favorite team. Drug free is the way to be!
PTO recognized our student of the month from each class, at our October meeting. These students exemplify great CHIEF behavior and are role models for our building. They are responsible and hard working and we are proud of them!
Mrs. Barrell's first grade class did science exploration, in our nature area, this week. Students had a clipboard full of items to search for and then explore. They also helped restock all our bird feeders in the bird watching area.
Chieftain Elementary recognizes a student of the month, from each class, at our monthly PTO meetings. The August/September student of the month modeled great behavior in their classroom and around the building. They are a great example of what a Chieftain student. We are proud of them!
