MVESC 29th Annual Student Leadership Recognition Ceremony took place March 7, 2018.

The Muskingum Valley Educational Service Center (MVESC) is proud to honor the writing talents of Susan Mahoney by presenting five area seniors with $1,000 scholarships in her memory. The students were selected as award recipients because they demonstrated outstanding promise and talent for creative writing.

MVESC also recognized the Franklin B. Walter All Scholastic Award finalists from its 15 school districts. The nominees for the Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Award are high school seniors who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement. The award is named after former Ohio Superintendent of Public Instruction Franklin B. Walter.

Century National Bank presented one overall winner from each of Coshocton, Hocking and Muskingum counties with a $500 scholarship from Century National Bank. The Morgan County winner received a $500 scholarship from The Foundation for Appalachian Ohio. The Perry County winner received a $500 scholarship from The Community Bank. The Tuscarawas County winner received a $500 scholarship from the HOPE Brigade.

Finally, MVESC recognized outstanding seniors from its 15 local school districts and two career centers in Coshocton, Hocking, Morgan, Muskingum, Perry and Tuscarawas counties for their school and community leadership activities. Each student selected one teacher who served as a motivating influence during his/her educational career to receive special recognition, as well.

In total, $8,000 in scholarships was awarded to area seniors.
