On January 25, Logan High School held their annual Poetry Out Loud competition. 18 students from English and Theater classes participated in the event. Poetry Out Loud is a national poetry recitation competition supported by the Poetry Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts. All high school students are eligible to participate and must compete in a school competition to attain a spot in the regional and state level contests.
This year's Poetry Out Loud winners at LHS are: First Place-Kayla Cordle (Grade 12); Second Place-Gracie Miller (Grade 10); and Third Place-Katie Maccabee (Grade 9). As the school champion, Kayla Cordle will compete in the Southeastern Ohio regional competition in Nelsonville, on February 17th, where she will have the opportunity to advance to Ohio's Poetry Out Loud state competition.
