Chieftain Elementary recently conducted its monthly PTO meeting. During this meeting students were honored for being, "Students of the Month". These students did an outstanding job practicing our school's "Chiefs Behaviors". Great work students!

Fourth grade students at Chieftain Elementary visited the Supreme Court of Ohio on Friday, December 13th. Students enjoyed learning about the role of government, the constitution, the first amendment and the five freedoms within that amendment as well as the judicial system.

Chieftain Elementary's student council members led a school-wide drive to collect items to donate to the Southeastern Ohio Foodbank's "Secret Santa for Super Seniors" program. The foodbank will use the donations from the community to brighten the days of local Meals on Wheels clients this holiday season.

Camp Oty'Okwa returned in November to talk with kindergarten about how animals prepare for winter. Students listened to a story about hibernation, heard animal puppets talk about what they do to survive the winter and then played a fun game with an acorn.

Camp Oty'Okwa is the cummunity partner for kindergarten at Chieftain Elementary. Emily Kridel talked about insect parts in the classroom and then each class ventured outside to catch some live insects to inspect. The students really enjoyed the October visit.

Chieftain Elementary conducted it monthly PTO meeting on Thursday, November 14th. During this meeting "students of the month" were recognized. These students have done an outstanding job following our school's "Chiefs Behaviors".

On Tuesday, November 12th, Chieftain Elementary conducted a Veterans Day Assembly for our local veterans. We were fortunate to have guest speaker Michael Grove, Retired Command Sergeant Major of the 174th Air Defense Artillery Brigade.

The Chieftain Elementary Veterans day assembly, scheduled for Tuesday November 12th, will now be held at 2:00pm due to the late start.
