Dear LHMS Families, Well it is looking like we are in for at least 6 more weeks of winter according to Punxsutawney Phil. That being said, we have now exhausted 7 calamity days due to weather this school year. We will be making up 2 of those days. Day 1 Make Up will be Monday, February 21st and Day 2 Make Up will be Monday, March 14th. Any additional calamity days will result in Remote Learning Days. We would like to outline that plan for you should we need to activate our Remote Learning Plan.
Congratulations to Brooke Perry, 5th grader at Logan-Hocking Middle School for claiming the LHMS Spelling Bee Champion Title on Tuesday night. Brooke beat out 31 other spellers that were competing for the title. Brooke won the spelling bee after 36 rounds and beat out runner-up Allie Barrell, 8th grader at LHMS. The Logan Hocking School District would like to announce the opening of the 2nd Annual Chieftain Academy Art Show now on display at the Maya Burrito Gallery. The show features artwork from students who are enrolled in the Chieftain Academy (digital learning). This platform does not currently have art in the curriculum, so we wanted to give the students a chance to express themselves. Middle school students had a magical holiday lunch on Thursday. Thank you to FCCLA students for hanging lights and serving students during each lunch and to 8th grade art students as well for decorating the cafeteria and upper gym for the celebration. As always, our cooks did an amazing job serving a delicious holidy meal and we appreciate them. The Grinch and Cindy Lou Who even made an appearance to pass out candy canes.
The middle school is proud to have two teachers and a local business recognized by the Ohio Art Education Association. Southeast Regional Director Jennifer Applefeller presented the awards at last nights board meeting. Suzanne Oldham was recognized as an Outstanding Art Teacher for Southeast Ohio.
