The “WE CAN” Make a Difference Club kids had a blast when they visited with the Carlin House Assisted Living residents! Eleven students were matched up with eleven residents to play Halloween BINGO. The students helped the residents locate Halloween words, instead of regular numbers, on the BINGO board. This was a twist to the game and the residents really liked the "Brain Challenge".
Project SAFE kicks off their Be the Light T-Shirt fundraiser! Shirts are $10 each & available in (5) beautiful colors! All proceeds benefit the Project SAFE Program. Project SAFE registration for the 2018/19 school year will begin on August 13th. Registration will be held at the board office (with Shelley McIntosh) from August 13th-17th from 8:00-4:00 pm. Online registrations forms will also be accepted from August 13-23rd. Please visit, click on DEPARTMENTS, then click on “registration forms.” Registration forms will be available at all elementary schools and the middle school during open house.
Project SAFE is currently accepting letters/emails of interest for several positions for elementary and middle school programming for before and after care. Available positions include youth leaders, head teachers and tutors. Applicants must be positive and passionate about working with children. Some positions at the elementary level will be conditional, based on the awarding of new grants.
Project SAFE students capped off their study of the thematic unit entitled "Inspire" by attending the production of Beauty and the Beast, at the Palace Theater, in Columbus, OH on February 23. The event was attended by over 300 students and their families from the Logan-Hocking School District. All proceeds from the play were donated to Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Over 500 Project SAFE students and their families attended an NHL Blue Jackets hockey game on January 8, 2018 at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, OH. Families enjoyed the game, which went into over time and provided a thrilling shoot out at the end, resulting in a 3-2 win for the Blue Jacket fans. Project SAFE families recently traveled to Ohio University’s Blackburn Templeton Memorial Auditorium to enjoy the play “The Wizard of Oz”. Over 450 LHSD students and their families were entertained with the storyline which included flying monkeys, witches and, of course, Toto too, as a national troupe performed the tale of Dorothy from Kansas, being transported to the magical land of Oz.
Over 270 students and their families attended Project SAFE’s Art Walk for the first family night of the year.
Project SAFE and After the Middle Art Club recently held an art opening for their Dia de los Muertos show on Thursday, November 16 at the Maya Burrito Company.
On September 30 over 450 Project SAFE students along with their families attended Magic Mountain Entertainment Center in Columbus, OH.
