Annual Winter Band Concert

The Logan High School Instrumental Music Department will be presenting the annual Winter Concert in the Logan High School Theatre on Thursday, February 9, at 7:00 p.m. Director of Bands is Pam Price. Assistant Directors are Ben Wright, Lindsay Van Winkle, and Clarissa Bates with Sam Lawrence as Percussion Instructor and Daniel Bollin as Professional Intern.
The Seventh Grade Band will open the concert with “ Defender of Time” by Rob Grice; “A Prehistoric Suite” by Paul Jennings; and “Rockology” by Sandy Feldstein.
The Eighth Grade Band will perform “Ten Marches in Two Minutes” arranged by Timothy Loest;“Twilight Tango” by David Bobrowitz; “Chasing Sunlight” by Cait Nishimura; and “Dark Heart” by Randall Standridge.
The Logan High School Jazz Band will select from the following: “On Broadway” arr. by John Higgins; “Backlash” arr. Mike Kamuf; “Play that Funky Music” arr. by Victor Lopez; “Saturday in the Park” arr. by Jim Mahaffey; “Rosanna” arr. by Paul Jennings; and Sing, Sing, Sing arr. byVince Gassi.
The Senior High Concert Band will be performing “The Show Boy March” by Will Huff; “In tantrum lux” by Todd Stalter; and “Choose Joy” by Randall Standridge.
Admission to the concert is $3.00 for students and $5.00 for adults.
Upcoming events for the Instrumental Music Department include Logan Chamber Music Festival on Feb. 26; District Band Contest on March 3-4; Spring Musical on March 17-19; Middle School Solo and Ensemble Contest (select participants) on March 25; Annual Spring Concert on April 27; High School Band Banquet on May 3; Kings Island Music in the Parks Festival, 8th grade band on May 13; Graduation Ceremonies on May 26; Alumni Day Concert (Jazz Band) on May 27; Memorial Day Parade (High School Band) on May 29 and summer sectionals for High School Band May 30 - June 2.
