On Tuesday, November 12th, Chieftain Elementary conducted a Veterans Day Assembly for our local veterans. We were fortunate to have guest speaker Michael Grove, Retired Command Sergeant Major of the 174th Air Defense Artillery Brigade.
During his presentation he discussed his experiences while serving our country and he also fielded questions from our student body. We were also very fortunate to have a Flag Folding Ceremony led by the Robert D. Gabriel Memorial Color Guard and The Hocking County Honor Guard. During this ceremony students were taught the meaning of each fold of the flag. Also, during the assembly, our 3rd and 4th grade students performed, "America", and "America the Beautiful" to our veterans. Once the assembly concluded our veteran guests were provided coffee and donuts and were able to spend some time with our students. We are very grateful for our veterans and the sacrifices they have made to keep us free. We look forward to having you all back again next year!
