LHSD Announces Preschool Round-Up
Submitted by: Kristy Walter
Students must be 3 years old by March 18, 2016, to be eligible to attend round-up.
The Logan-Hocking School District will be holding preschool screenings on Friday, March 18, 2016, for any child interested in participating in preschool for the 2016-2017 school year. The screenings will be held at Chieftain Elementary School, 28296 Chieftain Drive, Logan, Ohio. Screening sessions will be held at 8:30am, 10:30am and 1:00pm.
During screenings your child will be taken through various stations by the preschool staff and observed. Parents are interviewed and will be asked to complete paperwork required for the pre-registration process.
The Logan-Hocking Preschool Program is a tuition based program unless your child has a predetermined disability that would qualify them for an IEP. However, the district does receive a grant through the Ohio Department of Education that is income based and a limited amount of tuition waivers are available for those families demonstrating the highest need. There is also assistance available through the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services for parents that are employed, attending school or actively looking for employment. Those applying for either type of assistance must meet income guidelines.
Each elementary school houses at least one preschool unit and some have two or three classes. There are 4 or 5 day programs offered at most schools. Bussing is available for students that attend within their designated attendance area.
If you have any questions or would like to make a screening appointment, please call Connie Switzer, Administrative Assistant at 385-8517, ext. 2702. Space is limited, so please call soon to reserve a time.
