Hocking County 4-H is offering three different summer opportunities for kids! 4-H Cloverbud Camp Flyer Ages 5 and in Kindergarten through Second Grade, as of January 1, 2019 Beg/Jr 4-H Camp Flyer Ages 8 and in Third Grade through age 13, as of January 1, 2019 Sew Fun Clinics Flyer Age 8 and in Third Grade, or older, as of January 1, 2019. All youth, of the appropriate age, are welcome to participate. Membership in 4-H is not a requirement to participate.

This year, LHSD Purple Up! Day will be celebrated on Friday, April 26, 2019. We encourage the community to show support of our youngest heroes by wearing purple. We extend our appreciation for their service and celebrate them by wearing purple, in an effort to say “Thank You.”
Central Elementary and St. John Elementary will be closed today, 4-23-19 due to the threat in downtown Logan. All other Logan-Hocking Schools will be open and running on Lockout Status. There was no specific threat toward any Logan Hocking School and the suspect is currently in custody. Again, closing of Central Elementary was a precautionary measure due to the proximity of our students to the situation.
The Lockout for all Logan-Hocking Schools has been lifted. Central Elementary however will remain closed for the day. The Closure and Lockout were precautionary measures as there were no threats made toward any Logan-Hocking School. All school activities/ sporting events will be held as scheduled.
On Thursday, April 25th, the LHS Thespian Troupe 5460 will present its annual Thespian Showcase. The event is a talent show presentation from theatre students at Logan High School, featuring performances in dance, piano, sign, comedy, vocal music and acting. Troupe members have been preparing their pieces all year, and are excited to share them with the public.
Cheer Tryouts for Football Season, grades 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 (this year) and tryouts for “The Chieftain” mascot, juniors only (senior next year), will be held on May 28th, 29th, 30th.

If you drive by Worthington Park, in Downtown Logan, you will see the Gazebo area is temporarily decked out in blue. Pinwheels and bows have been placed in support of April being National Child Abuse Prevention Month. According to the Hocking County Prosecutor’s Office, in Hocking County in 2018: 609 reports of child abuse or neglect were made to children services – 340 resulted in investigations. There were 735 victims of crime – 82 were children.

The Hocking County Farm Bureau has once again brought endless activities to the fairgrounds throughout both days. Per the HCFB's Facebook Page, Ag Days is a two-day free event with displays for the whole family. Learn about agriculture, both past and present, & hear from speakers, plus interact with live animals, enjoy tractor pulls and children’s activities.
