Dear LHMS Families,

As you may have heard, we are moving forward with state testing this school year. Due to the increase in the number of students enrolled in our online Chieftain Academy this school year, state testing has created some challenges with scheduling.

We currently have approximately 850 students enrolled in In-Person Learning at LHMS while we have an additional 280 students enrolled in our online Chieftain Academy. All students in grades 5-8 are required to take both an ELA and Math test, while 5th and 8th graders have an additional Science test that they will take. Each of those tests are given in 2 parts and require up to 90 to 210 minutes to complete. The big challenge we are faced with is space for testing due to the requirement to bring in all Chieftain Academy students to test and to continue to follow COVID protocols with social distancing requirements. As a result, we have created a modified testing schedule to overcome the challenges of having space to test the students, and the availability of staff to provide the proper testing environment for all of our students. I understand that this schedule creates an inconvenience for parents but we are doing the best we can during this unprecedented time.

Please review the testing schedule below to determine what days your child will report for testing and what days your child will be doing Remote Learning on non-testing days. Paper/Pencil Packets will be used for remote learning as Chromebooks will be back at school for testing. Packets will be distributed at the beginning of each testing week. Buses will be running on the normal schedule for In-Person Students that are coming to school on testing days.

Please review the schedule for your testing days. Students will take both parts of the test on the day of testing and a breakfast and lunch will be provided to the students. Students will be required to follow all school COVID protocols including wearing a mask and maintaining social distancing.
CA Parent Drop Off and Pick Up - Drop begins at 7:05am and testing will begin at 8:00am. Students can be picked up by 1:00pm in the afternoon unless contacted earlier for pick up. Please see the map below for drop off and pick up locations. Bus transportation will NOT be provided for Chieftain Academy students.
CA Students will be reporting to their testing locations. Staff will be on hand to direct them to the correct location.
