A Message from Your Superintendent
A Message to the Logan-Hocking School District,
The Logan-Hocking School District (LHSD) deeply understands the concerns facing our district's students and families during these uncertain times. We greatly appreciate your cooperation as we continue to work diligently to address COVID-19 related challenges, with the health and safety of our students, staff and families as our top priority. There is no "one-size-fits-all" solution, and we are closely reviewing the unique needs of students and families in our district in every detail of our re-opening planning.
In addition to close collaboration with our district's teachers at all school levels, LHSD is closely following guidance from Governor DeWine, the Ohio Department of Health, Ohio Department of Education, Ohio High School Athletic Association, and our local health department. We will be reviewing and closely following the K-12 Reopening Guidelines, recently released by Governor DeWine, before finalizing our plans. Our ultimate goal and current plan emphasizes students returning to the classroom for in-person learning, with the appropriate safety measures outlined by Governor DeWine. We have also developed alternate plans to serve in the event of school closures, and remote learning platforms for families needing alternate options to in-person instruction for their student(s).
Our plan in-progress incorporates three (3) major learning platforms in preparation for alternate instruction needs or school closures. All of these platforms will provide the same curriculum and quality of instruction. These platforms include:
Schools Open: Instruction and learning are completed in-person on a normal schedule
Remote Learning for K-12: Instruction and learning are provided by classroom teachers using Google Classroom which includes video conferencing, discussion boards, and digital instruction.
Digital: All instruction and learning are completed online and remotely.
In addition to our focus on the highest standard of academic instruction, we are also working to address the specific social, emotional, and physical needs of all who learn and work within our district. We are working around-the-clock to provide a re-opening plan that meets guidelines from state and health officials and the health and safety of our students top-of-mind. We will provide the completed plan to be reviewed and approved by our School Board, and the approved plan will be released to the district within two to three weeks.
