Alex Lomong Visits LHMS
Logan-Hocking Middle
Submitted by: 7th Grade English Department

LHMS 7th grade students enjoyed a visit from guest speaker Alex Lomong on Wednesday March 4th. Alex is the younger brother of U.S. Olympian and former Sudanese Lost Boy refugee, Lopez Lomong. During their novel study of A Long Walk to Water, the 7th grade students also read an excerpt from Lopez Lomong's book, Running for My Life: One Lost Boy's Journey from the Killing Fields of Sudan to the Olympic Games. Alex, who was born in Sudan and spent his younger years in Kenya, shared stories with the students about what life was like there, the transition to America, becoming an accomplished runner himself at OSU, and his dreams of also becoming an Olympian some day. The students and staff are grateful for his visit and appreciate his inspirational words.
