Second Grade Celebrates 100
Hocking Hills Elem.

Mrs. Cassady's Second Grade class celebrated the 100th day of school today with cookies that made the number 100. Why is this good learning? Grade 2 has been working on the following two standards all year, and they have even gone beyond 100 in problem solving.

2.NBT.5 Fluently add and subtract within 100 using strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction.

2.MD.5 Use addition and subtraction within 100 to solve word problems involving lengths that are given in the same whole number units, e.g., by using drawings and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem. Drawings need not show details, but should show the mathematics in the problem. (This applies wherever drawings are mentioned in the Standards.)

They celebrated their mastery of working within 100 to problem solve! Great way to recognize their effort Mrs. Cassady!
