The Chief Logan FFA Forestry team competed at Monroe State Forest in Martinsville, Indiana, October 24-26. Bethany Starlin, Justin Wilkins, Brooke Stivison, and Emma Moll represented Ohio in the career development event.
The John Deere company was the sponsor of the event. Each team was presented with a plaque, and each member received safety glasses and a hard hat for the event, which they were able to keep. In addition to the forestry equipment, they gained valuable career experience and memories they will never forget. On Friday, all of the competing teams attended the Forestry Banquet at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. After the meal, the awards were presented. The Chiefs placed 18th in the nation. Wilkins, Stivison, and Moll all received silver ratings and Starlin received a gold rating. Our neighboring state to the southeast, West Virginia, won the event.
