Hocking Hills Elem.
Submitted by: Mr. Rice
On Monday, May 14th the Hocking Hills fourth grade class of Mrs. Shepard, Mrs. Stivison and Mr. Barrell took a field trip to the State House. The fourth graders enjoyed a guided tour. Highlights of the trip included visiting the House of Representatives and the Senate Chambers, the Rotunda and visiting the interactive museum. Students learned important facts about the history of the State House including that it took 22 years to finish the building due to lack of funds. In the interactive museum students were able to cast their vote for "Should the buckeye be the official candy of the state of Ohio." Students were treated to a buckeye candy by Mrs. Kahn, substitute teacher, before voting so they could make an informed decision. For many students this was their first trip to Columbus. Special thanks to parent volunteer, Mrs. Ginger Johnson, for accompanying us on our field trip.
