Green Elementary Views Solar Eclipse
Submitted by: Rebecca Osburn
On Monday, August 21st, the students and staff at Green were able to experience the Great American Solar eclipse as a school community. As an enrichment activity, the school ordered eclipse glasses for safe viewing of this scientific phenomenon. In the days leading up to the eclipse, teachers shared with students the activity that takes place with the sun and the moon during an eclipse and other concepts like partial views, totality and viewing safety. Throughout the afternoon students were guided by their teachers through a series of observations so that student could witness the changes that occurred before, during and after peak. The students and staff truly enjoyed the chance to share the experience together and are excited at the prospect of the next eclipse in our area in 2024!
