Family Literacy Night at UF
Union Furnace Elem.
Submitted by: Mr. Novar

Union Furnace Elementary held their annual Family Literacy Night on Thursday, January 19. This year, the school featured some new twists to the already great event. One change was that the school offered a spaghetti dinner prior to the start of the night. Also new to the evening was a silent dessert auction which garnered great participation. This year, the event's theme was around author Jan Brett. Principal Brian Novar helped kick the event off by reading and discussing, "The Three Snow Bears" before turning families loose to attend the three literacy stations which were set up and ran by the school's staff and also incorporated the works of Jan Brett. To help cap the night off, every child in attendance got to take home a brand new non-fiction book of their choice. Thank you very much to the numerous staff members who helped make the evening great, and to the many students and their families for supporting the school!
