The Logan-Hocking School District, through a grant provided by the Ohio Department of Education, is proud to offer Project S.A.F.E. (Student and Family Engagement) before and after care programs at the following elementaries: Central, Green, Union Furnace, Hocking Hills, and Chieftain. In addition, we have expanded our after care services to the Logan-Hocking Middle School for grades 5 - 8. All children attending Logan-Hocking Schools grades K-8 are eligible to attend. Students who are approved for free and reduced lunch may attend for FREE; all other students are $15.00 per week, per program.
Beyond the Bell is the newest addition to the Project SAFE before and after care program. Beyond the Bell is available for all high school students in the Logan Hocking School District. Programming will begin on Monday, October 29. Hours are from 2:45-5:30 pm, Monday thru Friday. Beyond the Bell offers many activities including study tables, OGT and ACT help, snacks and many clubs based on student interests at no charge to the participants! Club offerings to kick off this new program include: Battle of the Books, Ultimate Frisbee, Musical Review, Tae Kwon Do, Foreign Language, Dance, Pep club, Community Service, Engineering, Poi, Cardio Dance, Creative Writing, Solar, Teen Institute, Health, Turning for Troops (wood shop), and Driver's Education. Applications are available online or from Wendy Cook at the high school office. For more information, call 385-8517 x 2735.
Project S.A.F.E. offers homework help, enrichment programming based on monthly themes, math activities, science experiments, art experiences, games, recreation, computer, and so much more! Every day a healthy snack is given to the students at both before and after care. On-site advisors are prepared to help your children in all subjects, and find stimulating ways to teach the children who are enrolled.
Programs are offered monthly in conjunction with The Dairy Barn, Hocking County Soil and Water Conservation, Logan High School Biomedical Student Team, and The American Cancer Society. Also we host family activities that include field trips based around the thematic units studied in that month. Some of the opportunities Project S.A.F.E. students and families have experienced include Tecumseh, Blennerhassett Island, and the Hocking County Fair. Field trips are free of charge to participants and their immediate family.
